wheat fields
I have 12 farms, 28 wheat fields, and 4 silos. I have noticed that not all of the wheat fields are being used by the farms. Is the wheat being made by the fields the farms are not touching being used, or do I have too many wheat fields.

a farm works the closest field a silo work the closest field. the best set up would be as many silos as you have farms and at the same lvl. then you won't need as many fields

If you find that some fields never deplete, destroy one at a time & see how things go. Take it slowly - there's no rush. Destroy one, wait a day or two & delete another. Keep going until you log in one day & find a depleted field. Replace it & then build one more.
Alternatively, you can do all the math to figure out how quickly you're actually depleting the resource vs. replacing it with your silos.
Or buy more silos to balance things out. You could have 50 farms, 50 silos, and one field, if you lay it out correctly.

You have and have not too many wheat fields. If you stop replacing the used up fields your farmers will move on to the next field until they are all used.
Right now your situation is that you have enough fields that you may go twice as long without replacing them.
Silos do replenish the closest fields, I have about 80 farms and 40 silos. I replace my fields as often as needed, which leaves me
at times with a depleted field and right next to it a field with over 2000 wheat. As mentioned above it's good to place everything efficiently, but there are too many obstacles and little room for this later on.

I have about the same ratios, except I don't have any silos yet. Most of the time half of them don't get touched, but then there are times that I'll let my closer ones run out and then I have plenty of backups.
