The John Axe islanders suffered like most during the Great Copper Mine Strike of August. Those were the three weeks when the programmer handling copper mine regeneration foolishly succumbed to the wiles of the evil [insert appropriate Ubisoft rival here] mole. He made 90% of the copper mines stop permanently at 1 and sleep. Oh how the Islands suffered!

The few spared islands made fortunes trading copper. Rapidly, John Axe Island exhausted its resources trading for meager copper. All looked lost, for without copper multiple industries failed on the Island. But then Bene Ficent Island took pity, and offered John Axe Island some of its remaining copper stores - not for price, but as a gift.

From that day forward, John Axe Islanders traveled far to Bene Ficent’s games, to wear the Bene Ficent jersey with deep gratitude while cheering heartily.

Then came the day John Axe Island grew large enough to field its own team, the Annealers. Named for the process of heating and then cooling copper so it won’t be brittle, the Annealers wear a satiny copper base jersey with special sleeves. The sleeves are taken from whatever jersey the Bene Ficent’s team is currently using. Both the copper and sleeves honor Bene Ficent Island for rescuing John Axe Island during the Great Copper Mine Strike.

A second tradition developed. The first time John Axe met Bene Ficient in a tournament, the John Axe players insisted on forfeiting. Bene Ficient refused the gift. Instead, the game was played without any fouls being committed. The tradition is repeated when the teams square off in a tournament. John Axe offers to forfeit, Bene Ficient refuses, and then the game is played with zero fouls. Ever since, foul-free games are called Copper Contests.

Below on the left is the current Bene Ficient jersey, with its traditional alternating lilac, blue, and white stripes. Below on the right is the current John Axe jersey, with the satiny copper base and sleeves taken from the current Bene Ficient jersey.

No one knows why the tailor offered a 30% discount if the John Axe Annealers let him write “Fly Emirates” on the back of the jerseys. It seemed a harmless concession, so it is emblazoned underneath each player’s name.

Presenting the new Bakersfield Badgers pennant featuring the Thunder Three. First on the left we have Wyatt 'Wiz' Merle, the "Wizard" of soccer. Next, in the center, Sandalio 'Bolt' Gonzales, dubbed "The Lightning Bolt" by his teammates for his amazing strength and speed. And last but definitely not least, Columbus 'Drift' Corolla, so-named for his perfect sliding tackles and daredevil off-field activities in his namesake car. All set stunningly on the blue, red, and white stripes of the Bakersfield flag. Add in the Bakersfield Badgers team mascot logo and this is without a doubt a pennant you need for your collection. . .so stop quibbling and buy one today!
