Volunteer Moderator Program
Hello Settlers!
The volunteer moderator selection process is complete. We'll be learning as the program grows. If you did not get selected this time, don't worry, there will be other opportunities in the future.
You will see the moderators emerge as they are in their training now. Some have already made a chat appearance. I am sure you have many questions.
Here are the answers to the most asked questions so far:
What is a moderator
A moderator is a player who has donated their time to moderate chat. They do have the power to ban players but they have to follow our guidelines.
How do I know who is a moderator?
Their name begins with mod_ and they have yellow text. They will communicate mostly by whispers after they get finished introducing themselves to the community. We will also keep a list of current moderators' names once we get everyone's accounts set up. They will not share their original account names, moderation is done anonymously and out of the kindness of their hearts.
What if I have concerns about a moderator?
Please submit a support ticket and a staff member will investigate your concerns. Please never discuss your concerns or complaints in global chat or on the forums, as this will not solve problems and may start a flame war.
What else do I need to know about volunteer moderators?
The moderators do not get compensated for their time. Please be respectful of their commitment as harassment of moderators will not be tolerated. They are not aware of any unreleased information but they have usually been playing the game for a while. They may have answers to game play questions but they cannot give you any information not already found on the forums or news about upcoming releases or features.
Can I be a moderator?
We have the recruits we need for now, but we're always looking around the community for potential moderators. If you feel you would enjoy this opportunity, check our recruiting thread for more details.
