    Guilds

Is it required that you belong to a guild and are you penalized if you are not in one? I got kicked out of my guild today for no reason; at least none was given. that's the second time this has happened.

If the game mechanics nerf you for not being in a guild then I'm not sure that I want to invest in this game. I want to play his game and think it is great, but want to play without being in a guild. When I started, I thought it would be great to be in a guild, but now I see that I just want to play the game without the hassle.

If you are responding to this thread, please keep in mind that I am asking about being in a guild or not; not about reasons that I may or may not have been booted. That's a moot point. I also don't think discussing the merits of guilds is relevant either, as I definitely won't join one again. I don't mean to be a jerk about it, but I've had it with guilds.

    Thanks

You do not have to belong to a guild. The only thing you lose are the benefits of the guild, which vary by guild.

I mostly just solo the game, except that I use the trade office all the time. I get by just fine. Eventually, that might change, but for now I'm comfortable trying to create my own self sustaining island and going on the occasional adventure.

you can build a good friends list and and still have most of the benefits of guilds. you'll be missing out on guild coins, but u can easily trade for them if you like. cultivate friendships with people you like, to share adventures, trade, and chat with.

I have made great friends being part of a Guild and learned a lot, too.
Still around from time to time.

I agree with the other comments you can still have a great game outside of a guild. Just bear in mind that there are good and bad guilds and you seem to have been very unlucky. So just dont think they are all bad - if you do find a good one they do enhance the game still more. The important thing is to stay in the game and enjoy it. If you are happy then all good. Friends are easy to make.

I'm sure there are good guilds Mortallicus; but after my experiences with them I would rather play the game without them. I'm just glad that this game doesn't penalize you if you don't want to join one. I started this thread because I've played other games were joining was almost mandatory. Happily this isn't one of them. Thanks for your comments everyone.
