standard practice, in regard to lootspots, is buyer pays first then receives invite. this is an easy system to scam, however, it rarely happens. when it does, other players should be alerted and the scammer should be named in public chats as a warning. bb/ubisoft is not going to reimburse those that are scammed, though they probably will take care of it. so where does that leave me after losing 2000 gc on a spot that didn't exist or letting a guildie borrow 500 eggs to complete a quest and then they disappear? I am out 2000 gc or 500 eggs and I will tell as many people I can so they are not in the same position. what happens when it is a newbie that gets ripped off and is not reimbursed? they are gone from the game bb/ubi and they won't come back. just because one player jumped the gun on a confusing situation and inappropriately called someone a scammer, these new rules were put into place. it's bad for business and bad for gameplay. if you get scammed, please let me know the username so i can avoid them and alert my guild to do as well.

i agree with you ebotty, tho i do think it was more than one instance that led to the rule...misunderstandings and unavoidable delays (being bumped offline) were becoming a regular reason to call someone out. the s word was also being thrown about for trades with unreasonable prices. i know the aim was to minimize friction, but the result has made it easier for ppl to take advantage.

the problem becomes even worse when they create new accounts to rip ppl off, then forward the goods and have the acct. deleted, or even if its banned, theyre still getting away with it. loot spots is one of the last ways where we trade for a fish. i wish there were a way for the game to protect the buyers.

they need to consider putting the scammer list back in forums, with an investigation/mediation system to help resolve them.

in the mean time, we do have an offsite forum for guild leaders of both servers to discuss such things. contact me for the url.

I have been here since closed beta. I have never bought or sold a loot spot. I give them to my guildmates and they give them to me. If you don't have this kind of arrangement, then I would suggest you change guilds.

I can say the same, Wimpy. Sharing lootspot is a great way to help your guildmates.

And not everyone prefers to play the game the exact same way. When I am on premium time, I am buying just about every lootspot i see available. That doesn't mean I don't swap in guild.

Good for you if you swap lootspots with guildies. A lot of us do. A lot of us also buy and sell them on the TO. Recommending everybody just "do it your way" is a bit asinine, might as well stick your head in the sand and pretend there isn't a problem. Seems to be all Bluebyte does about any problem that doesn't affect them making money =/

While BB doesn't endorse the concept of lootspots, I believe that someone can reported under the "cheating" category if they advertise a LS on trade tab and don't honor it. Try to get screenshots if you can to attach to a return email when you get the ticket confirmation. Back when I was a CL, I submitted quite a few of those tickets on behalf of players when I saw them get scammed. Cheaters should have no place in TSO.
