    PvP - where is the "player" part?

    BB just can't get a break can they... After 2 years of development, and 1 day of playing players are asking where is the "pvp" in the PvP. From the test:

    "To be honest this is rather like a random matchmaking system not PVP that doesnt make a difference from a players perspective... As you cant direct attack anyone, you dont even know who your attacking
    Does it really make a differenece if the colony belongs to a player or controlled by the system??"

    "Up to now, there is no sense in attacking a colony of another player, as it has at least the same amounts of enemies and most probably some more enemies at the colony compared to an AI colony which has not yet been captured by another player.
    Where is the PvP? I still see only AI-controlled units which I have to defend. I have done this for two years in boring and ever-same adventures now ... I do not need the same with just differently colored units."


    "I also wrote about the need of at least some kind of personal/guild leaderboards with maybe weekly/monthly rewards to make this system a bit more attractive. Now you can't compete with anyone, not even with friends in a ranking list.

    About the rest, I also don't see much point in the valor point buildings as the amount of islands you need to conquer to buy one is extreme. Note that a skilled player can probably conquer your island after the 12 safe hours anyways. I think the find a colony feature on the explorer has boosted speed for testing purposes and on live servers it could take hours to find one. If you cancel the found colony you will lose the resources used to find it."

    "Exactly. At the moment PVP seems to be nothing but a resource sink, just like several adventures will be after the combat re-balancing patch. I don's see much point wasting effort, time and resources into something that isn't neither rewarding or interesting."

    Sigh. 2 years deemed a fail within 24hrs of testing. Epic. I would personally see more sense in allowing players to keep the captured island forever, while the resource production on it runs. Each passing week of a player keeping the island will increase the loot (%wise) as a reward to another player re-capturing it. Score boards would have to be made to clearly see who are the "whales" and which island capturing offers best bounty. This way veterans of pvp would have to defend it often and fluff themselves with satisfaction of keeping it. Likewise the attackers could claim the glory and fame of retaking an island.

    Nah, it will not happen. Too much coding...

    once more "colonies" are established i'm sure you will find player "x"'s island and attack it. as for rewards from what i am seeing it's the valor points you get fo attcaking/defending your colony. i might be wrong but so far thats what i get from this expeditions thingy

    You are right, valor is from doing expeditions. But at this point only gives defense buildings? Costly as hell and.. quite pointless since you are going to lose the island in 7 days anyway? I am not irked about it, people who tested it are. I just don't understand. There was a huge thread where players were giving ideas about how pvp can work. Over last 2 years. Quite few were really cool. And we got this. Unless there is something worthy coming to be purchased from valor that we don't know yet this will be mostly 1 time try for players. Give it a shot to experience it and.. put it on the shelf because of cost vs reward (again). It smells like fail...

    And anyone who knows anything about pvpers clearly understands the need of score boards and allowing friends/guildies to get to attack each other if they chose to (some voluntary invite to "duel match" mechanism wouldn't be a problem). Where is this element? Am I missing something? Or is it me or something is terrible missing in here..

    i'm sure there will be some tweaking on rewards and costs of items. give it some time the best thing to do is go test and give positive feedback. just going off saying how bad it is will get no where. give them your honest opinion and maybe a solution or a middle point this is suppose to challange us not just another check the box where's my reward deal

    What he said. PVP is far from being done, give feedback and don't just bash (not saying you are), as it doesn't help where they need to adjust. AND REMEMBER IT JUST A GAME.

    Totally agree. I haven't played on test enough yet to have formed an opinion. If all I did was rely on what's selectively copied from test and posted on this forum, I'd never make it over there to find out for myself what's really happening, or offer my ideas of what might make it better.

    That was fun to figure those out Wimpy. You'll like it. It is said that Melee beats Cavalry, Cavalry beats Archers, Archers beat Melee. Ensure your attacks are always giving you the best advantage.

    If the enemy camp has a mix, then you use a mix of troops as per above. Let's hope that some bright soul will make a general pvp combat sim where you input the enemy army combination and then your army combination. In the meantime, try the above and you'll do ok.

    PvP has been on test for 4 days and it is not perfect yet? At least we gave it the full 24 hours before it was "deemed a fail". Considering players islands are not able to be attacked until 12 hours after the player completes the defenses and designates it ready, it is unlikely there was any PvP in the first day of testing. This would actually be the second 24 hour period, as they had to do a repeat server wipe after the first day to fix some minor problems. But this should not stop players from quoting test forum posts, bringing them onto the live forums to ensure that everyone who is not involved in testing gets to hear incomplete testing feedback.
