More information about upcoming event: Christmas 2014! More details can be found below.

    CHRISTMAS EVENT 2014

    Dear Settlers,

The cold season of the year is coming closer and closer, did you manage to spot first signs of the upcoming winter?
All settlers started to prepare for the special Christmas event! The summary of the event is available below.

The Christmas 2014 event will start at the same time world wide and be ended with 2 removal phases.

    • Start: December 11th, 2014
    • Removal phase I: On January 8th, 2015
    • Removal phase II: Postponed to January 16th, 2015.

Several graphics will be modified to fit the Christmas mood, for example the logo and the loading screen.
Information about the removal phases can be found in post #4.

During the Christmas event, all players will have the possibility to gather a special event resource: Presents.

    Presents (Event resource)
Presents are displayed in the "Event" tab in warehouses.
The event resource can be traded. If you still have Presents from last years, you can use them during the event this year.
The game will offer a huge variety of possibilities to collect many gifts, including Presents!

    • Advent Calendar: The event calendar is back, improved! Open one door every day and get gifts
    • Buff Adventures: New special non combat buff adventures that provide useful rewards. Available through Christmas Surprise special doors
    • Adventures: Two combat adventures with a Croaker Christmas story are available
    • Collections: Special collectible items will start to spawn on home islands - you will be able to transform them into Presents
    • Daily Quests: Special Christmas Daily Quests will be running during the whole event
    • Event Quest Chain: A Christmas Quest Chain will guide you through the event
    • Explorers: Each standard treasure search will have a chance to bring you some Presents (in addition to a standard search reward)
    • Shop: There will be 2 packages with Presents available in the Shop

With the start of the Christmas 2014 event, the Advent Calendar will be available again!
It provides many useful gifts, including buildings.

After the Christmas 2014 event activation, each day one of the 28 doors in the Advent Calendar can be opened.

The Advent Calendar interface will feature 4 different types of doors:

    Type: Regular door
Description: Can be opened on the specific date that is displayed on the door
Rewards: Opening a regular door provides rewards that are chosen randomly

    Type: Buff Adventure door
Description: Can be opened on or after the date that is displayed on the door, regardless of previously opened doors
Rewards: These doors offer special Christmas buff adventures

    Type: Special door
Description: Can be opened only if all previous doors have been opened.
Rewards: When it's time to open this door, one reward must be chosen

    Type: 28th window
Description: Can be opened on 28th day of the event only if all previous doors have been opened
Rewards: When it's time to open this door, one reward must be chosen

There is also a very special reward waiting for players who will open all calendar doors:
It is a bundle including an Arctic Iron Mine and a Frozen Manor this year!
Opening the Advent Calender interface is simple! Just click on the icon of a star that's floating next to your avatar:

Only available through the Advent Calendar, new buff adventures are introduced with this year's event. The "Buff Adventures" are a series of adventures which ask to "deliver" gifts to houses on multiple islands.

Only available through the Christmas calendar, new buff adventures are introduced with this year's event. The "Buff
Adventures" are a series of adventures which ask to "deliver" gifts to houses on multiple islands. They are
balanced for the following level groups: 16-25, 26-35, 36+. When opening one of the special doors, an adventure based on the door
and the player level will be gained (later doors include longer adventures). There will be 6 special adventure doors available in
the calendar. Similar to "Summer event" special adventures, camps on the map are occupied with 1 or 2 different unit
types. Each can be "defeated" with 1 or 2 different buff types.

    Unit Types:
Unit name Buff alternative 1 Buff alternative 2 Adventure level Icon

Grumpy adult Gift wrapped beverage Delicate decorations 26-35
Impatient child Pony ride Expensive toys 36+
Bitter adult Art gift Jewelry 36+
The different kinds of buffs ("gift" themed) can be produced with resources in the Provision House.
They can then be used on houses (camps) on adventure islands to defeat and turn them into beautiful Christmas homes.

    Buff Types:
Buff name Required 1 Resource 2 Icon
    Simple toys 30 x Pinewood 20 x Stone
    Cookies 14 x Wheat 24 x Water

On January 8th, 2015 the event will be in Removal phase 1.
This brief FAQ will provide you with some detail information about that phase.

    • What does Removal phase 1 basically mean?
The core mechanisms of the event will be turned off, but event shop category will remain until removal phase 2 on January 16th, 2015. This means you have one additional week to get special event items for Presents. The Presents (event resources) are shown in your storage any time, even after removal phase 2.
    • Can I still collect Christmas Collectibles in Removal phase 1?
Collectibles that spawned before the maintenance can still be collected. However, after the collectible items are newly refreshed in Removal phase 1, no new Presents will spawn.
    • What happens to Christmas Quests that are not finished?
The event quest chains will be cancelled.
    • When will Explorers stop finding Presents on treasure searches?
If the search was finished during Removal Phase 1 and started before,
no Presents will be included in the loot.
    • Is it still possible to create event items?
The creation of the Christmas Adventure Buffs and the Collection "Basket of presents" are only possible until Removal phase 1 starts. If you started to produce an event item briefly before Removal phase 1, this item will be finished even after Removal phase 1. Same goes for completed items: You can still pick them up after Removal phase 1.
    • What happens to the Christmas Adventure buffs in my Star Menu?
The buffs can still be used to play the Adventures.
For a refund of the production resources, the buff has to be applied to the Mayor's house.
    • How long will the shop category be available?
The Christmas Event category will be deactivated with Removal phase 2.
