3x gem sale right during the event would be a killer success. People who already been playing for 2-3 years and already have stockpile of gems from gem pits sure are not interested. But many of new players would be really inclined to spend money an such offer. I would suggest to inform about a sale few days before. So, players would talk in guilds and get some incentives to buy. I help convincing few guildies to save money for gem sale simply by explaining how easier the game can be with a smart purchase.
I assume sales are much rarer than they used to be because many have plenty of gems. Well, BB got to come up with some clever and useful ideas to spend them. Demo crews were aimed specifically toward old (rich) players. I am waiting for expansion islands. Meanwhile, Water Plants (placed on water lots instead of land) could be a good buy.
