quest: buff at friends island

this quest asks me to buff something on a friend's island. I did - a few times actually - my fishplatters get used up but the quest does not show as finished.
now I have a quest where a friend has to buff something on my island. well, I tried to get some friends. only one accepted and he doesn't play I guess. so how the ** do I get that done?

Apparently they haven't fixed the bug...

The quest "Friends" where you have to Buff at least 1 friends' buildings. It doesn't say how many buildings, or with what, I've read the description a dozen times, and it still says I haven't completed the quest even though I've buffed several friends' buildings....

One common issue encountered with this quest is that is specifically means "friends". The person buffing or being buffed must be on the friend list of the player, and other players that are on the guild member list but not the friend list do not count towards the quest.

Since joining a guild does not automatically add them to your friends list, even though their avatars get added to the menu.
New guild members have to send or get friend requests from all the guild members.
