    Specialist

I've been looking at the Specialist and specking them for the best use for general searches. Here's what i've come up with and i'd love to hear your opinions / critiques / ideas on them:

    Note on Specialist (from Lightshot)

    General Geologist (from Lightshot)

    General Explorer (from Lightshot)

Also I'm still lost on what on earth capstone skill to choose for the explorer. I know i need a Artifact search for at least a few, but should i put that skill on my general treasure and adventure searchers? or make a specialized artifact searcher. not sure if the special quests for adventures and treasure are worth it? the other choice is to add more skill points to a lower skill to help the searches and cross-effectiveness.

Well I think your opinion on shortening explorer time is horrible. First of all, insinuating that shortening a search gives you crummier loot is 100% Grade A Bull... that is just needlessly spreading paranoia like the rumor that collectibles do not all spawn at the same time. Random number generators are evil, c'est la vie. Back on subject, fully booked you can cut the very long search nearly in half. So that is double the treasure you get from him which is far better than sturdy shovel, especially with the direction Blue Byte seems to be going with the Easter event.

Investing in titanium ore seems to be a waste because as long as you do not go around killing your elites and crossbowmen 24/7 it becomes plentiful. Having X% better chance of titanium ore you probably have less of a chance on granite... not sure where they get that extra percentage from but I assume they steal it equally from the rest. If they just steal it only from exotic wood, then I say **** yeah! But even investing in that skill says you are going to primarily be doing long treasure searches.

As for the top tier. Do not do the bonus treasure skill, you will be highly disappointed. I have no problem with the other three. Bonus adventure searches give you a nice bit of each resource with the higher level adventures. Bean-a-collada slowly gives you beans and guild coins. Artifact gives you some nice buffs that people charge way too much for. Decide what you want most and go for it.

Geologists, I just hate the whole set up because you cannot really specialize them for a specific resource. Most of the skills I just have zero interest in whatsoever. That is probably more because I have been playing for a while and have little use for stone and marble and do not mine coal or gold which kills half of the skill tree. The X% bigger deposits and fast mine skills you can juggle around depending on how often you log on and what level you take the buildings up to. Having X% more marble might seem nice but if the log on once a day and the deposit lasts 25 hours you are not only losing resources, but you wasted a manuscript.

I will decide what to do with mine in a few years when I have the books to spend on them. I was never a fan of the 2 in 1 skills because the bonus deposit did not have the extra stuff the main did if you skilled them, i.e. not fast mine or X% bigger. I think they have since fixed that, but I have no clue because I took my books back from those guys.

Anywho, that is how I view the world. The best advice I can give you is use the test server. We do not play the game the same way. I highly recommend going on there and going insane. Book your specialists however you want. Take the books back, throw them somewhere else and try again. Tear down every building they give you and mirror your island. Plan stuff out for future changes on your live account. It is not so helpful that the deposits are much bigger there, but you can see how much a level 3 mine will use in 24 hours as opposed to a level 2 and form your opinions from there.
    One army. Pretty please.

You have an interesting configuration with some good concepts while considering book management. Though, I may not use exactly the same configs, I do think you should utilize the test server (TSO Test Server). You get a plethora of coins (and gems!) and nearly every resource to build/buy all the geologists and explorers you want and science them to your satisfaction and work with them to see what fits your style. As you know, once you do so to your personal specialists, it is expensive to reconfig your staff. I like having several of each geo/expl configured for different tasks - personally, not big on jack-of-all trades, so I like having some just for adv. searches, others for treasure/artifact. Take care and have fun.

i find the two in one geo function very useful - especially for those longer mines to find such as iron - some of us don't have time to wait for 6 x 20 min searches... (or worse - 6x 1 hr searches for tav geos)

actually,my collectibles do NOT spawn at the same time. I know its a glitch or lag, but logging on twice still doesn't seem to fix it....

i'm not sure i believe fully that shortening your search hurts your chances at rare, however, when i look at t he books I'd rather the explorers take longer to search and come back w/more and better. so if you skip the skills that shorten search time you have the books to get pretty much everything else....
the alternative to that would be specializing each explorer for the search you will do, one for LONG, personally i would always want one for MEDIUM because that often brings back granite.

Yes i use this to specialize my explorers for medium searches, i'm setting up all my tavern explorers for medium (granite) search, esp since thats all i send them out for anyway.

In my opinion the shorten search is a half waste of books even if they dnt limit loot, in that u can't put books on other skills if you put on those. at this point i dnt specificly avoid them, but they are the last thing i put skills on.
