    Game tutorial

The current beginning of the game is challenging for many new players. In all previous versions of settlers and most other game tutorials there are many pop up tool tips that direct players to exactly what to do, even to the point of opening windows they need to open or visually showing them tool tips that direct them to do this action. This game has a particularly complex mechanics and with the new changes, new players cannot even chat to ask questions early on. It makes it much less likely that people will stay with the game. I was lucky A. to be an experienced gamer and B. start early enough that chat was available at level 1. The tutorial removes many long term potential players and (gem buyers) due to its lack of instruction. As long term players continue to leave the game from boredom etc, it would be great to see more new players entering the game which they are actively being discouraged from doing due to game design.

The fact that you can cause the game to be unplayable under level 17 without contacting support is a serious impedes to many new potential long term players.

It would be nice to see pop up instruction windows for how to use the provision house, and how to build troops and how to use the building menu.

if people have more specific ideas to fix the early game please post them below.

I would ask that this be made a priority for change in the future.

I would think a new player chat or simply having help tab available to anyone level 1 or more would help. Perhaps a warning message when entering help tab that states "spamming and rude behavior not acceptable" will help.

I think the 24 hour wait time for trading should be removed so that a player can trade directly with another player when they need to, which is normally early on in the game.

agreed most players will instruct some one spamming "usually some one under the age of 12 " and if we dont get through we call on bb and it is handled in short order . info is never a bad thing and most players will help newbs with the best advice they can offer.

well since help chat is only locked to lvl 5, and there are VERY SIMPLE instructions to get you that far i.e. build the only thing it lets you. the problem is not a lack of a tutorial cause one is kinda there, it's more of failure to follow VERY SIMPLE instuctions

The instruction set may have been simple for you, for other players it is not as simple. The other problem being that if you don't complete several levels all in one sitting you can brick the game requiring the need to send an in game support ticket to deal with it. My suggestion is that they create a more functional tutorial that uses specialty pop up tool tips during the tutorial period. The "yellow highlighting" is hard to find not mentioned and not obvious for most players especially if they happen to be coloure blind.

It's been years since I began the game, but I don't remember it being very hard to get started. I've gotta agree with Mr Phu.

But aside from that, is there a level restriction on being able to use the forum? If not, setting up a post that's got links to relevant data for newbies that stays at the top would be one avenue. Once I got to the point of having questions I was able to find the info here on the forum. I'm sure it's all still here, and there are various wikis loaded with info as well, so there is help available.

As far as needing to send in a support ticket to keep going early on, that's a drag. Hope it gets fixed soon. That's pretty much a separate issue from a tutorial tho.
