Stand Alone program wont load properly

    Hi,
First time poster here. I really like the game and usually leave it running even when I go to bed.

I closed the game last night and reloaded it (since sometimes thats the only way for some quests to complete) and when I clicked on the "Play Now" button, instead of getting the usual loading screen of the world, I got the VLC logo in the middle of the screen and the Play/Pause at the bottom left corner with the play bar across the bottom of the window.
I've re-installed Java (though not sure if TSO uses that) and re-installed Adobe Flash. But niether things worked.

    I'ved included a screen shot.

Anyone have any idea how to fix this?

    Thanks,
    Kori

    Hello Korishan,

Have you tried going into the settings (third icon down on the right side bar, the little gear icon) and switching the flash plug-in being used?

    Best regards,

I didn't at first; but did just now. It was set to Chrome, I changed it to Adobe. Still didn't change anything. I reloaded the client several times to no avail.

I haven't uninstalled/re-installed yet. Is there any information saved on the local computer that uninstalling would remove that would change when re-installed? I just don't want to loose my current game (though I am playing it in the browser, but just wanna make sure of everything).

    Thanks,
    Kori

    Hello Kori,

If you uninstall the slim browser version, your game won't be lost.
When you reinstall and launch, just be sure to select the same country (United States) and Server you're playing on.
Just in case you haven't read the FAQ yet, you can find some additional information on the slim browser here: http://www.thesettlersonline.net/en/...rt/slimbrowser

    Best,

Well, uninstalled and re-installed the client (even re-d/l'd it), still can't use the minibrowser to work; still showing the vlc icon and the play/pause button at the bottom as pictured originally.

I have been having the same problem, I really enjoyed using the standalone program but it all went wrong with a VLC update and now the game won't load with either the Adobe Flash plug-in for the Google Chrome plug-in...

I have read the FAQ and tried to follow it, but it assumes we all know what we are going, I can follow instructions very well with a good guide but these instructions are a little too vague

Edit the file "package.json" in your "The Settlers Online" game folder and change the path to the plugin to: "plugins\\pepflashplayer.dll"

If there is no path: Please add the following to the list of "chromium-args": --ppapi-flash-path="plugins\\pepflashplayer.dll' --ppapi-flash-version=18.0.0.209

The first one of these instructions is easy, and the 2nd line I tried doing but obviously failed. If somebody could post better instructions with some screenshots or maybe make a YouTube video I'm sure this problem would be a lot easier to fix ourselves and would be minimal effort to staff...

Some random information, this problem started while I was using Windows 7, I have since upgraded to Win 10, I now play the game using Google Chrome 64-bit version which is up to date
I uninstalled and reinstalled Adobe Flash
have tried full reinstallations of Chrome, but have you tried to reinstall Chrome after uninstalling

and I definitely want to repeat this note, everything went wrong after updating VLC player about 6 to 8 weeks ago

I hope this information is helpful and thank you
