Better chat interface

We need a better chat interface. It’s become extremely difficult to follow multiple tabs at the same time, even when they’re slow. Switching over to whispers or adventure chat works fine because we’re expecting a response, but following the discussions in one of the global channels while watching for trades on trade chat is nearly impossible.

The ever increasing moderation in trade chat has dried up any conversations and has reduced it to a sterile, dull list in the daytime and a ghost town at night - you might as well keep refreshing Craigslist. If a player wants any kind of social interaction, we have to move to another channel and forgo the chance at a good trade. Compounded with the reduced activity on the server in general, this has made the game increasingly boring.

One solution is to back off on moderation, but we’re not allowed to discuss that.

Another solution would be to allow multiple multiple tabs to be open at the same time. The game interface seems to be designed for a 1024x768 screen, circa 1998. I suspect that almost all of us use something much larger, so there would be plenty of room to have 2 or even 3 chat tabs open at the same time. In another game like TSO they have a tear-off type of tabs that you can reposition wherever you want on the screen and pin it there.

Perhaps with some improved tools, we could breathe some life into the game.

Seeing how the chat just recently got changed and hasn't become an ounce better, I doubt there will be anything upcoming in that regards anytime soon.
