    Thumbs up Gem pit

With all the changes in thee game and many new items to buy from merchants, plus supplies for building/upgrades and lets not forget about buffs..... are you gonna raise the amount of GEM PITS we can perches. as of now it stands at 10. For us long time, die hard players.... upping the liniment would be wonderful..... " Just be careful you dont delete one as I did. lost a little more then 3k worth of gems... " thought I had the mouse over the bollard gate decorations to put back in my star.... so do be careful when taking up or placing small decoration on/ around your island... it tens to get filled rather fast and mishaps can occur.

So 200,000 free gems is not enough?

I was already surprised they increased it to 10 from it's initial 5. Asking for more is beyond greedy on our part and not that great of a move on their part. One of the few things I recommend BB not changing anymore, odd as it may sound coming from me :P

I will be happy to get one... someday I shall.

On a side note, I do not understand the haters showing their disapproval for increasing the limit. I mean, I don't have that kind of cash, but I don't see any problem with those so blessed being able to do so. I see there needs to be a limit, but over time it seems to make sense that the limit would expand slightly to encourage player retention. idk, I'm an electrical engineer, not a business or marketing guy, so perhaps I missed something.

That has nothing to do with being a hater but being realistic in your demands and being able to bring objective opinions to the table. You are making it sound like people drop a wad of cash to buy all, or most, gem pits at once and then just wait for the return, when in reality, some spent cash to get to the 20k (with promotion no less) or save up over months and years to scratch them together, both versions will now buy the first pit and wait for that sucker to spit out 20k gems to buy the next rinse and repeat, see you in 1.5 years again. That's the reality for most of "us" who bought the gem pits. With that said, I bought all limited items minus the Generals (except MMA of course and the Veteran that I initially afforded as well), 2 1-year premys and _still_ have some 88k+ gems left over....sorry for not buying 500 Nobles and some other gem buildings for a quick boost....get those with in game resources through the TO even if you are paying a premium....it's still "free" compared to buying gems with real cash. Otherwise, sorry for still not wasting them on mundane stuff just to save 5 minutes of my day that I eventually afk for hours to begin with.
Without promotions a Gem Pit is worth some 85$. Get one, wait for 1.5 years following the gem pit route and then BB will have returned your 85$ and 1.5 year time investment with 765$ worth of thank you as opposed to "only" 340$. Mind you that you can't cash out for a real check but the value within TSO remains the same regardless.
....and then of course there is the "issue" of there being not enough "worthwhile" things to spend them on in the first place. Like I said, I got a whole bunch of stuff already that was sensible and I still have left over.

Player retention is secured with regular content updates that are actually planned and though through and considering players feedback, if getting more virtual money is your definition of retention, you might want to question why you still play in the first place. Want retention? Add more items to the gem shop, add more items to make beans worth something again, introduce buffs to make Generals travel faster or change the PITA travel times to and from adventures altogether. Ask us, we got a bloody list of features/addition/changes we'd love to see getting implemented that would make the game that much nicer, much more so then getting gems....and that is still objectively seeing it, not just because I already got "everything". No amount of gems will clear your barracks queue with a click, no amount of gems will push the unit you desperately need right now to the top, no amount of gems will get your generals off their donkeys. And don't get me started on paying 65 gems for 100 pinewood planks.

If I'm buying gem buildings in the TO, there's a good chance somebody spent gems on them, even if I'm not. Though I am in the same boat of not really knowing what to do with my gems now and probably will just spend them on premium.

If in the future gem pits could only only purchased for cash thru credit cards/PayPal/etc, as gems themselves are, then upping the limit would be feasible and profitable for BB. As it stands, many people, myself included, did exactly as Ceruhe described, buying one pit and getting the other 9 for free/being patient, so upping the limit while gem pits still sell for gems makes no sense from a business/profit perspective.

    Cool Gem priorities

Agreed. Assuming one plays regularly, is in a reasonably helpful and active guild, and participates in the events they should be able to get a lot of decent buildings and specialists via guild coins/events, leaving gems (no matter how they are achieved) the following priority (IMHO):

    1. Premium Time - There is no better purchase in this game. Active players will benefit from premium time more than any other single thing in TSO. 1.5x experience and loot are just monstrous benefits.
    2. Gem Pits - These beauts return 2x the investment over a 1 year period (and are the reason this thread was started). Anyone who has yet to get one, be sure to read any of the several helpful threads on how to 'farm' your Gem Pits into being able to purchase all 10, starting with only one.
    3. Unique and/or Non-Perennial Specialists and Buildings - MMA, Lucky Explorers are pretty much mandatory purchases for any serious player, buildings such as pop buildings (Floaters), and recyclers, and for some players, schools are limited.
Regarding the purchase of Gem Pits beyond 10, why not? If BB never does, I'll continue playing, of course, but I am not sure that expanding the limit by a few once in a while is not a bad thing for those who would want to.
