You know what would REALLY make this whole sorting thing much better? Keep (Presort) all specialists by their sub types: When selecting Generals, keep all MMA's together, all Veterans together, and etc; when selecting Explorers, keep all Lucky's together, all Experienced together, and etc; same with Geologists: all Jolly's together, and etc...
If this presort was already in place, I think sorting of specialists would be very manageable.

I've separated my specialists into sub groups by using special characters in front of their names. Using spaces, ", #, ', ., etc will sort them into groups with their names being the secondary sort. To further sort within a group you could do (for example) # followed by a space then a name to put that one in the front of the # grouping. This is holding for me and I'm able to have my scouts in the order I actually want them in. You have to visit a friend or refresh after changing a name for it to have an effect on the sort.
Here's a link to the ascii collating sequence to get an idea of sort orders available. Scroll down to where it says space bar and start from there.

Thanks. I used to program for a living, so ASCII is more or less a third language. That is potential short-term solution, and not preferred in my case as all my specialists already are named! All of them. So, I'm not inclined to change them.
I think it is incumbent on the developers to not force the user to perform Gerry-rigging in order to get by. I hope to see some improvement to the current sorting algorithm for the Specialists; the balance of the tabs and items is good and workable - just need to get used to slight differences.
On a side note, I do find it interesting that each and every adventure/coop/scenario is date stamped! (Some buffs are as well) So, in a game where space (storage) must be an issue, every adventure has its own information stored for some reason!!! I have 300+ SE alone... lol Kind of curious what information is so valuable that it is stored.

The specialist sorting needs tuning.
"Type" is too high level - military/explorer/geologist division is nice, but there is mostly randomness within each group. Intermixing PvP marshals with adventuring generals is not desirable. And why are my PvP suppliers sandwiched between my fast explorers and my tavern explorers?
"Date" intermixes them by type, and everyone acquires their specialists in a relatively random order, especially when buying event specialists. Useless.
"Amount" is useless since they are all the same.
"Default" is not very good since it is pretty much the same as "Type".
"Name" is the only one that comes even close to being useful. But you can't actually use it unless you name (or rename) every specialist in an alphabetical manner to get them to sort the way you want them. My generals all had nice, historical names that I enjoyed seeing. Now I have to rename them General #01, General #02, General#03 if I want them to sort properly?
The fact is that when a player goes to the specialist tab, they go there for one of four reasons. Adventuring, Expeditioning, Exploring, or Geology. At a minimum, the specialist tab should ALWAYS have a primary sort by those four groupings, as having specialists from different functions intermixed never makes it easier, only harder. Then the "Type" sort could be used to sort within groups by actual type (MG/Vet/BHG, etc).
As it is, I feel like a choir director that has been given the option to organize where each member stands on the stage by height, weight, age, gender, name, or seniority. When what I really want is voice range and solo/chorus distinctions. And asking all my choir members to legally change their name so I can get them to stand properly seems... a bit awkward and unrealistic.
Yeah, I agree that Default should be the exact same order they were in prior to the change. Why it's not makes no sense at all.
Since it's not, I'm just as happy to put them in the order I want them in by tweaking their names a bit. Simon de Montfort was difficult to place exactly where I wanted him, but I managed to get him there.

The sorted specialists are not helpful since they are now randomized from the order they were in before. I had my 5 "trained" geologists at the front of my geologists and now an untrained geologist is 1st and a trained 1 is 2nd... I don't have the time to sort through them all to find what should be right in the order I set my training tomes up in.
Allow me to give feedback to the guys getting payed for this game.... I WILL QUIT PLAYING in anger at this resorted order if you don't fix it. This means the meager money I spend on this game will go with me..... Nevermind I am just quitting and you can go ahead and continue to **** up this game
Specialist Default wasn't too bad for me. I will need to change a few names though. Luckily most of my names are either default names for the largely untrained explorers or a numeral order by type for generals.
I just added 01. in front of majors names, 02. for MMAs, 03. for Veterans and so on.
Same for explorers.
Not very complicated, just a lot of clicks. I like how they are now on star menu...
But, please, as Evil J said earlier, can you move the cakes and cages on the same tab with the weddings and pandas? It's a pain to change the tab and search the buff every time...
Thank you
