Devs really need to read this and consider it
I want more ppl to play this game just like anyone else because more ppl that play the better in-game experience we all have. I mean settlers has Ubisoft brand which is well known. Settlers online has a ok player base with established communities. So why not make this game epic? BUT PRO HOW DO WE MAKE THIS GAME REACH OUT TO MORE PPL? Simple turn this game into a TSO app for andriod and iphones (Apple) devices. Lets look at the benefits of this.
I decided to start googling things and some things i found
*apple devices have about 1 billion users worldwide
*andriod devices have about 1.4 billion worldwide
there are roughly 7.4 billion people in the world... so think about this btw Appple / andriod users that is 2.4 billion people So ROUGHLY 31% oF THE ENTIRE WORLD populations uses these devices on a DAILY BASIS!
i mean just seeing these number is mind blowing that this game is not in app form, the marketing potential is F'n HUGE!
This would give settler player more control over there islands being able to do anything at any time anywhere on these devices and not have to be confined to a cpu or hoping to god flash works on their browser in their phone.
i mean the goal of any company is making money and being profitable correct? apps can cost anywhere from 50k- about a mill to make. Now lets just do the xtremes here if you do this you can also charge for the app itself.. say 2.99 or something, hell even 99 cents would make money because a lot of already existing player would probably purchase it just to play on their andriod / apple devices. Then you have to take into account the new ppl that will play with the possibility of buying gems. i mean if you took 1% of 2.4 billion people that is 24 mill if 24 mill ppl paid .99 cents just to download the game would would pay for the production of the app plus already be making money.. that is just a 99 cent download fee imagine those people now buying gems? money money and more money..
most people are like this isn't possible blah blah blah.. i want you all to LOOK AT POKEMONGO
http://money.cnn.com/2016/07/22/tech...nload-records/
http://www.refinery29.com/2016/08/11...lion-downloads
so don't tell me crap is not possible and blah balh balh excuses. This stupid app right here ALONE should be the reason to inspire you to make settlers into a app. THIS pokemonGo app hasn't even been around 3 months yet. What if settlers became the new PokemonGO?

The app would need to be made from scratch, which affects the bottom line, require a decent amount of new layouts and navigation as scrolling would be a pain to deal with and otherwise isn't engaging/paced enough of a game to keep you hooked. I wanna say most of us playing do so on the side, aka the browser is open, but running in the background while we are working and stuff and occasionally pop in to build/attack/send stuff/chat.
People nowadays seems to want a competitive aspect to the game too, which TSO is massively lacking but delivered with "same same but different" games like Clash of Baddies and so forth. Having Ubisoft's name attached to it isn't really a benefit anymore either.
The comparison with a worldwide "phenomenon" to a mere locally popularized game was as moot as it gets. That is not even considering the augemented reality feature, which I even googled how many games there are, and haven't even heard of any besides Ingress some 4 years back, but none of it ever made it to the Pokemon scale. A totally different thing having hooked kids/teens on something and deliver more to give them nostalgic feelings when they are adults as opposed to having had to deal with adults from the get go and never made it to the teens, as owning a computer back in the day wasn't much of a thing and kids were still allowed to be kids.
Not saying that I wouldn't use an app if it came along (despite not really in need of it), but I'd imagine the competition in this kind of regard is too overwhelming to bother with the investment. Pure speculations on my part though, I'm not one that looks into quarterly/annual reports and does some mental gymnasicts coming up with variables that somehow need to make a coherent sentence, also no idea how much time/work/investment is needed for apps themselves as well as server costs and what have you.
But as BB_Whoeveritwas already mentioned, there is currently no plan to adopt an app version of this game. Most of us can feel the game dying ever so slowly as TO is getting less and less trades posted and inflation only getting worse, so it's not like I am pessimistic for no reason (regardless that it usually ismy default position lol), but as a consumer I also get the feeling they don't even care to try. Whatever time and money they sinked into Expeditions they would've been better to just open the window and throw said resources right out, would've accomplished more.
Good thing I only consider this a time-wasting on the side, so I'm not really affected either way /shrugs

An app would be great a nice touch for this game. I certainly do not want to lose out on my weekly gems if I go out of town. Using the Puffin browser on my iPad the game is somewhat functional. If I get a keyboard and mouse for it it might be pretty much the same. That said this game drinks bandwidth like it is nothing and I need an amazing connection to avoid lag so complex things like blocking are a land I have learned not to dabble in. And like Ceruhe said it would take a total re-coding of the game. If they go that route they might as well take Adobe's advice and dump Flash. A less resource demanding game would most likely be best for us and Blue Byte.
One army.

Pretty please.

Settlers Guide
its not our business to care about costs, surely BB could figure that out
but i see ads of mmorpg games like this, not as good as this one, and they all have apps, actually the ads promote said app and not the browser version
at some point flash will die and they will need to recode the game in another language, maybe by then they could make an app for it
would be really nice to check in the game just even to check some timmings, like buffing barracks or sending specialists when i dont have access to a pc

Thoughts for the Settlers Online "Mini" App - would be more an interface to key maintenance tasks:
Version 1:
- Send explorers out on searches
- Send geologists out on searches
- Post trades
- Queue bookbinder - this one is the worst of the bunch for timing issues, would be best one to get "off browser" functionality
Version 2:
- Load generals on home island and send to open adventures
- Queue and buff barracks
- Queue and buff prov house / rarity prove house
- Check / accept trades
Just some thoughts, the initial version really doesn't need to be all-encompassing to be useful. Later versions could add more functionality as obvious items are identified...

I bought an Amazon Fire after I realized it was only $50. Puffin and Photon both provide moderately functional experiences. I wouldn't want to do much adventuring or drop 100 buffs at once, but it's fine for various clean up tasks.
