I don't like the fact that the Excelsior is setup in such a confusing way that you could accidently waste Gems on that purple button.
The gear up and down and the GEM and crystals indicator is very subtle and not obvious. It needs a ARE YOU SURE confirmation button saying you're spending gems.
I'd rather not even be able to accidentally make the mistake at all, but there is an are you sure button. There is also a sound.

maybe they need a separate interface for convert your gems to crystals. make that be a separate process somewhere in another menu. then go back to the button to use crystals only. each time you're out of crystals it can take you to the buy crystals.
OR maybe in the gems shop allow you to BUY crystals with gems. That makes more sense to me. Go buy the crystals in a gems shop.

well, theres is a popup when you go to spend gems, but i believe this should just be eliminated from excelsior interface, and place the crystals in the shop in small packs
At this point I have to believe the current setup is deliberate. Gem sales trump all. On the plus side, I am running premium so I get 2 dailies now, so only 30 days or so to get the Evil Queen quest.

Want a way to flush the excesses out of the economy? How about letting us convert materials to crystals. 1000 gc per crystal, 25k bz swords, 5000 maho logs/planks etc.

I thought basically the same thing, that we were gonna get hosed on gems. I heard the sound and saw the switch over, got irritated and blasted out a post here without actually trying it to see what would happen. As it turns out there is a pop-up, so there's no way to accidentally spend gems. I sac'd 29 gems to see if it would come up after the 1st time and yes, it does every time. I even click on it random times throughout the day to see if it works every time and it does.
I'm sorry I made that post in haste, but can't do much about it except be embarrassed for it. I've had a chip on my shoulder ever since the improved farms came out, weren't working right, and I took grief for reporting it here. I need to stop expecting something to be horribly wrong every time BB releases something new. Things have been slowly getting better overall since BB_Alex came on board.
As far as Ornias idea.... maybe we could get recipes for the RPH dropped from ventures for the conversions
All in all I really like the Excelsior, it adds a lot to the game for everybody along the spectrum of levels. It's very well done.

I love the content so far and got Annoholics on my first run so Excelsior definitely got off on the right foot with me in terms of rewards.
Other suggestions here seem pretty decent.
Only one thing I don't like about the Excelsior - where it's placed. It's a ship - seems like it would have some mobility so that I can get it off that corner of my island and put it somewhere I want it.
