yes... so true . I am doing ok with my explorers . But feel bad for newer players without all he explorers I have.
Seems that most are not happy with this event. You can add me to that list as well. To really get everything one wants, you need to play 24/7 and hope you get good drop rates. Guess I am not that lucky.
Typed a big massive whiny thing. Then realized I didn't want to read it either.
TLDR: like event; if nobles run out due to extended maintenance, will hate it.
“Many that live deserve death. And some die that deserve life. Can you give it to them? Then be not too eager to deal out death in the name of justice, fearing for your own safety. Even the wise cannot see all ends.”
J. R. R. Tolkien
I'm not a fan of any kind of adjustment that tilts the balance towards "24/7 gameplay." If that is BB's intention, and that is certainly the way this event feels, then I am greatly disappointed. One of the reasons I have enjoyed this game as much as I have is I can play it and still have a regular life, too. I am not penalized for not being chained to my keyboard.
I'm not refilling my patches now that I have obtained the 400 achievement, I'm not going to bust a kidney to run advs for a 30% chance of almost not worth the effort and 60% chance of getting Nelson Muntz'd.
This is the first event I've played that I didn't enjoy the process. Last Halloween was my first event, so my sample size is more limited than some others.
On the plus side: I do like how they adjusted the Golem Hunting. I think they got it very right with the way they allow friends to hit it, but you can still control the final outcome for yourself. I think the 16 hour recharge is useless, if you're not going to make it 12 hours, 16 is pretty much the same as 24 for most players.
When it was introduced on test I was weary of the changes to the event this year. I have more than made up my mind and will have to agree in the hatred for pumpkin patch refills. I certainly hope next year reverts back to the way it has been. I do not mind explorers not finding pumpkins. It sure is nice, but if the trade off is refillable pumpkin patches then I will settle for the empty explorers.
This whole time I am not having any fun as I am constantly worrying about keeping my patches stocked up. I do not have much hair left as it is and you all are turning it grey. The only reason my patches are still alive is because I have been able to pop in during downtime at work, but that is not guaranteed. It is just really, really frustrating and the only reason I am still sane is because the Halloween music is so soothing. If you had the Christmas music playing there would be an axe through my computer right now... and by right now I mean since day two of the event.
Please do not do this to us next year.
One army.Pretty please.
The problem with the pumpkin patches refills seems to be more of a problem with implementation than the basic idea. Being able to multiply the rewards from the adventures is not a bad idea, and at worst for people who did not to play with buffs could get a direct return or just double from long-term buffs. I have found the problem more to be in the implementation, starting at the beginning.
First, the initial content of the noble cemeteries has less than 3 days of running before collapsing. With normal operation, the noble cemeteries require 36 refills for each day, which would require a player to get 108 refills a day just to keep them running. This does not provide much lead time to keep them running, and is complicated by the poor drop rates overall.
The drop rates are the larger issue. It is difficult to give precise numbers without having actual drop percentages, but the wikis do provide some information. Having the no return option being the most likely option is very demoralizing to the players. While the Ali Babas have what could be considered a reasonable drop in proportion to the easier adventures, there is almost no difference between the more difficult and easier adventures. For more active players, this would mean it would be better to do easier adventures rather than the higher level ones.
I would guess the reason for reducing the higher level adventures is more due to the fact that they are predominantly multi-person adventures, and the intent was more to remove the benefit to people who are not doing their own adventures.
The pumpkin income from explorers was huge, if you have enough explorers to take advantage of it. I felt that made it much easier to achieve the pumpkin goal without having to run multiple adventures a day. Once I hit the achievement for refills after running Wood Cutter once a day, though, I started selling them. Mostly I just dropped snows on my better patches and let 4 days pass, except for the small ones, where I used werewolf and went back the next morning.
