Eh. I am really excited about the new generals as well. I hope BB does a good/great job in toning their skills and abilities. True, if a new general skill tree is coming up on the horizons they might lose their new "shininess" eventually but for now - drools.

Can't wait to see what kind of wrecking ball and force of destruction my skilled MMA's become, what kind of rolling tank my MG will be and finally what kind of nuclear strike training the new 300 general will offer GoGoGo BB!

What is still unclear is their troop capacity. In the latest change log we are told the generals will be released sometime next week to play with. There is a rumor that their capacity is 150, not sure where that comes from. There is also speculation that these can only be used on the 1001 Nights adventures. Not sure where they got that information from either.

Anslem looks like he has taken the biggest hit since he was teased. Do not get me wrong he will be very helpful with saving lives, he just seems a little underpowered compared to the other two but that does not make him unworthy. His lack of first strike might not make him the best for sacrifice waves, but one other thing we do not know about these generals is how many hit points they have so I cannot make that claim with confidence. His big advantage will be against bosses. You take something like the Oasis Guardian that does 5-10k damage. With him the Guardian will only do 5k each round. That alone cuts half of your losses to start with, not counting how many more you will save from being able to bring more of your heavy hitters in their place. Again if the rumor of 150 troops is true, I would hope they would leave this guy at 200. Other than that he can save you plenty of lives along the way. You can essentially ignore caltrops and shadow sneakers with him as their low damage is 0, meaning you can throw those cavalry into your attack on those camps now. Yes, on the surface he is a bit less desirable but there is some depth to his combat mechanics and like the others he will save you many lives.

First, thank you and BB_Alex for the insight.

Second, there is something else missing aside from capacity which is important, and that would be HP and Damage by the generals.

Depending on the hitpoints and/or damage capabilities, I think that Anslem could become a very useful blocker/1st wave specialist akin to the MoD. Think of being able to calculate your enemies for known damage instead of the huge variable damage they could do (Especially with attacks which require many rounds - each round opens up the variable). One could easily calculate to the integer how much damage a camp could inflict on Anslem each round leaving out the myriad of computations that there could be (depending on the defenders). So, if Anslem has a sufficient number of HP, he could be quite formidable in specific roles.

    Sounds like fun.

To add, these generals were listed with 150HP (moot), but they all did between 1500 - 3000 dmg, espicially Vargus and Nualsa were higher with along with a having 1st/splash/weakest combination.
But again, since they have all been changed since the teaser (from what I heard at least), we need to wait for the final version. Opinions and uses will change with every change made, so we might as well just save our breathes until then hehe

Thanks to SweaterPuppies, Bri0sheje, Skyfall, Perwyn, EvilJ, Raubhautz and few others who actually help translating the info from German site into English. Your knowledge of the game mechanics is quite impressive. great posts on test about the new generals and their abilities. Keep us informed about the changes happening to the generals. Each of them seem to have some unique skills and each will be useful in different situations. Once test servers are done I would love to see a wrap up of each general with explanations of where he/she will be useful the most (camp/adventures types).

Thanks guys for your hard work

If they are good to their word, in a few hours they will be out on test to play around with. Um, my Nusula post was inaccurate before, I kind of changed it a little. I was still looking at her pre-nerf. So hopefully later today I can give a good summary of them all as they stand to help you all decide which one you want.

As of today BB_Alex said they are still debating whether or not to allow you to get the others for gems after the event. They are more focused on making sure they work correctly and have a proper balance first.

Thanks so much SweaterP for the update. There is lots of buzz on life and in guilds about this. Hope BB does good job on tuning them.

Now that we can get our hands on them, here is your update on what our new generals are capable of.
They can be sent to any adventure/venture. No 1001 Nights restriction. Which is good because giving a level 15 player a general he cannot use is silly. They are not as overpowered as when they were teased so it is not that big of a deal. Still a game changer. I feel bad for the poor guide makers that are going to be so annoyed by all the requests to update theirs. I see FastSim is working on adding the new generals. As of right now it is not accurate, but they did just come out and are clearly labeled as unfinished.

Okay, here they are in all their glory:

    Vargus
15 minute travel time and 2 hour recovery time
    First Strike
    Splash Damage
    Damage: 750-1250
    Accuracy: 80%
    Troop capacity: 180 units
    Hit Points: 200

Skill: 5% decreased damage from enemy units and enemies can no longer “attack weakest unit”

    Nusula
15 minute travel time and 2 hour recovery time
    First strike
    Splash Damage
    Damage: 1000-1500
    Accuracy: 90%
    Troop Capacity: 165 units
    Hit Points: 150

    Skill: All offensive units gain splash damage and attack weakest {attack units are bowmen, longbowmen, crossbowmen, marksmen, and armored marksmen}

    Anslem
15 minute travel time and 2 hour recovery time
    Attack Weakest
    Damage: 1000-1500
    Accuracy: 50%
    Troop Capacity: 150 units
    Hit Points: 150

    Skill: Enemy units hit with 0% accuracy {that is enemy unit’s low damage number, not zero}

As said before, you get to chose from one of these beasts just for logging in for the first 18 days of the Christmas event. How to decide is again dependant on how you play the game. If you love your Master of Martial Arts, Vargus and Nusula are reminiscent of that. Anything you sent him to his demise on with 1 recruit these two will do better. Hit points on these three are irrelevant. 150 will most likely never get you to a second round.

Vargus’ advantage is ignoring all the units and bosses that want to take out your cavalry, crossbowmen, armored marksmen, mounted marksmen, and besiegers. Using him to replace Knights with swordsmen so the 150/350 hitpoints barrier as opposed to the 80 should save you tons. That said his 180 troop capacity might not always be better over a Major.

Nusula’s gig is she gives your heavy hitters splash damage and attack weakest. I originally misread/misunderstood flanking. She does not give your attack units first strike. Armored marksmen with splash damage sounds nice, but I am not sure how much of a benefit this will give you with the loss of over 100 troops. She is definitely quite a boot to the older adventures making crossbowmen more appealing, and possibly better than cannoneers on some occasions.

Anslem’s still the same old guy. Without first strike he is questionable as a 1r sacrifice if that is your thing. As long as there are no first strike units he will put a nice dent in the camp. And like I said with caltrops and shadow sneakers he ignores their attack entirely. Opposite of what I hope he has the lowest troop capacity. Just starting to play around with him, but it would seem he is the most beneficial against bosses with high damage and high hitpoints.

    ----

These are just my initial impressions. Whenever the combat sims get the numbers down we will have a far better idea of what they are capable of. These three will do some damage to the older adventures, but with their lower troop capacity I am uncertain of how much they will help us with the enemy camps with higher troop counts. Time will tell and hopefully this will help you decide which to choose. I highly recommend you go to the test server and try them out yourselves before deciding.
