How come the rewards from the long and extra-long searches are so much lower than from medium search?

OK, there's more exotic stuff, so I expect smaller amounts of that, but the same stuff that you get from medium is like 20% as much or less.

Do you have your explorer skill tree boosting medium searches by any chance?

I think the higher end treasure searches made more sense when the resources they provided were more valuable than they have become with the introduction of granite/titanium/salt mines. I would be more inclined to just pick whichever resource you can make more use of, sticking with medium if you need hardwood planks/marble rather than granite/exotic wood (during events, the important thing is to make sure they have as little downtime as possible). Purely in terms of market value relative to search time, medium searches done twice a day is probably the best value now, but either option is not going to make a big difference.
