However, when I quiit playing years ago, was because leveling up was such an absolute dreadful pain in the ***. I literally had no desire to reach 50, due to the fact that I knew I would be grinding 100 nords, or whatever the "best" exp adventure is/was. Upon returning. I am finding there to be a LOT more styles of adventures, and loots. However, again, I am having issues, and quickly falling back into the "Why do I want to grind 100 of the exact same adventure, just to do it again at 48, and 49.

Is not waiting for all the resources and buffing, and "searching" for new deposits, not in and of itself, a "Foced Limit" on how fast anyone can progress?

I just quit FF14 about 3 months ago, due to the weekly lock outs, limiting someone to taking a full month to gear just ONE class of their toon, even if they wanted to "no life" for a weekend, they are still forced to slow/stop progression. Settlers online is absolutely no different. We are FORCED to only be able to make X amount of any resource, like gold, iron, copper. Due to the time it takes to search, and process the limited nodes.

I made a suggestion several years ago before i quit, and again in the last few days, here on the forums. To allow people to send out troops and a general on a "quest" that rewards EXP. A set it and forget it, kind of quest. Much like the explorers, and geologists, etc.

Catching up is not what I think people will want, so much as not taking as long to do it. I am not trying to preach that we should be able to max level in a week and "beat" the game. All games have/need their grind. I just never found the adventure grinding here, to be very fun.
I started playing a few months before you and while I had the exact same outlook on lvling up to max lvl (50 at that time) was the same feeling to me, however, rather than plugging away hours on end endlessly bored, I logged in every day, collecting various resources, building buildings, developing my island, then bashing away the events for the event specialty buildings and gens, specialists, etc, I was lvl 35 for like 4 years with no hurry or desire to put in the mundane repetition for no real gratification at the end. I watched many friends quit the game after being lvl 50 for a year or 2. Now, I have rocketed in lvls while basically only doing mass adventures during events and have an island that competes with most high lvl players, pus having more gens, specialists, explorers etc than most of the "high lvl players" today.

While I agree with the beginning of your post about the hardships we had to go through almost 6 years ago, I do not agree with the "hardships" of lvling today, since it really takes like no effort anymore. There are players with under a year playing the game and are over lvl 60 with no island development worth speaking about. it doesn't take "no life" playing, it just takes smart time management to put in a little bit of time here and there and just build, grow, collect, etc.

I have no idea on what you guys are really talking about. If you could put it into simplier term's I could understand.
It's looking to me like you're not wanting people to catch you. Or that you are Challenging people. I don't know. Please be more specific when discribing something if you want people to comment on it.. thank you

every one has the ability to buy generals sooner then when me started ... but they must be smart about how they use the resources and quests they recieve ... have had conversations with new players ... they can do as they wish but sayin they cannot get generals fast is not considerin excelsior quest and the proper use ... but all may do as they wish ... suggest, advice, but dont give resources willy nilly cause long term it helps no one

I always suggest to n00bies to build up and save up their gems when they first start to get all their gem pits running, this way they can start buying all the gens, explorers, geo's, etc with the quickly gained gems from all of their gem pits running at once, plus every new pit increases the speed of getting that next pit until they have them all. Yes this still takes a little time, but overall, it is most efficient and will get them their generals and such quicker in the long run

What makes the game fun is the work it takes to level up . Took some of us years of daily work to get where we are. Have fun on your journey
And there is the test server if you want to try playing at a high level.

Leveling up also helps you learn the game. Sure it might be a struggle and you might want to join in on some of the stuff a higher leveled player can do, but just throwing someone to that level would take away the journey. You learn a lot when you take the time to level up and read guides.

I am a casual player. I have been on this game for four or five years. Even though, I am part of a guild, I have almost never been in guild chat and, I have never been in any of the other chats. I just recently just started checking out guides for the game and my idea of doing adventures is to kill off my recruits so, I do not max out in population. Basically, I figured out how to trudge through the game by myself with a few helpful pointers thrown in from some very helpful people. Honestly this game has no PvP or disasters to deal with. Nothing can be taken from you and frankly the best part about this game is watching my island not only get better over time but to be able to do more in game while having to do less playing it. For this type of game it is great. I am not saying things could not change but watching my progress through out the years of plodding along is fairly rewarding and enjoyable. Starting out at a high level just given things would give a player something they have not invested anything in. In doing that then then you get a quick peak in-game activity which will teeter out quickly, then they will get bored as they do not really have a lot to do till they reach "end game". not only that but it would be a crappy way to treat long term players that haven't reached that level and not allowing them access to the quest/adventures that someone new starting out would have access to.

Any chance of adding experienced explorer to merchant for those of us who weren't playing when he was offered?
