Grouping Generals in the Star by Type and THEN by Name.

    Hi BB,

First off TY for making a game that I love to play. I spend way too much time playing this game! lol.

I just dinged lvl 47 and bought both of my MGs. I have been naming all of my gens as I get them. I named these as well then went to open the star and saw that they are now in 2 different locations instead of by each other. I think it is a really good idea to be able to customize and name our generals. It gives them flavor and lets us tell one gen from another. I would appreciate it if you could make it so that in the star generals are 1st grouped/organized by type and then by name. It might be the OCD side of me but I want my gens together :-) Thanks for all that you do.

This exact gripe was brought up many times in the forum after the 'sorting' feature was added (well over a year ago)... the basic response was to either use the query option or name your specialists in a fashion that puts them in the locations you wish. Neither is acceptable, imho, but there it is...

I agree, in default sort mode, our specialists should sort by type, then sub-type... (e.g. Generals, then by type, then by acquisition date; Explorers, then by type...etc.)

My specialists all sort how I want them to. My only complaint is that I have to keep switching from the default sort every time, which is a sorting method I never use. If it would just remember that I want to sort by name.

I added 01, 02, etc in front of the names of all specialists and they are showing up in the order i chose.
Majors are 01.Name, MMAs are 02.Name and so on
Lucky explorers got 01.Name, savage scouts 02.Name
For geologists is very useful, i added different number for their skills, the ones upgraded for fast granite search got 01.Name and so on. Easy to find the ones i want to send when using default mode for searching.

It's possible to get all specialists in the exact order you want them with the sort exactly as it is.

All my generals that get used the most have a space, or several spaces in front of their name, which groups them together. Controlling their position in the grouping is accomplished by the number of spaces used in front of their name. The generals I don't use as much have a combination of " as the first character, followed by spaces to control position within that grouping. Other specialists have other characters at the front that cause them to group together and their position within the group is controlled by spaces once again. For example, . followed by spaces.

It's simple, quite effective and only requires a little bit of effort. Below is a link to an ascii table which illustrates the sort order of characters. It's what I used to help figure out my specialists positioning into the groups I wanted. It's possible to pick characters that are unobtrusive and don't look stoopid as your grouping character.

I also use numbers. That way they appear in the order I want at the top of a sort by name. It's a silly naming convention that I would not otherwise use, but functional and not detrimental.
