What happens after Flash is gone in year 2020?

Sorry if this post is in the wrong section .. but it technically is about the game..

Adobe will stop patching and supporting Flash player in 2020.

What will happen to TSO if there is a flash player problem or a security issue is discovered? Will BB hire a flash player specialist to work on it?
I know BB has said in the past that they will not convert TSO to HTLM5 (Adobe's reason for stopping support for flash is because HTML5 is far superior in many ways). Will there be a TSO 2 using HTML5?

Been playing off/on since 2014 and just wanting to know what the future holds for the game.
    xoxo

Has there been any response to this?

I think it is time for this to finally be addressed....I know the devs are being very tight lipped, but now that the end of flash is near, the players deserve to know what the future holds for TSO. Most players dedicate a lot of time (and money) to the game and would like some reassurance that the game will still be around past 2020. If not, the player base will understand, but we at least need to be in the loop.

This is especially true in a game with items such as gem pits...these essentially cost real life money and are a year+ long investment. Can you imagine investing heavily in gem pits just to find out the game is about to shut down....We are within that 1 year window at this point.

I know we've all asked a million times and received no real response, but could the devs please give us some insight here?

It sounds (or at least at the time sounded) like they would like to fix it but not reinvent the wheel. With the way Chrome is acting now, I imagine it would increase the urgency because half of people are using a browser that is being obnoxious to them.

If I've read BB_Alex's second response (from Gwalbens link) correctly, there's a solution that they're leaning toward.

I don't think they'd be doing all of this continuous development if the plan was to scrap it all next year.

That is mostly how I feel, but....

If the plan is to keep the game going, why not convey that to the players? If players were confident the game was going to stick around, they would be more likely to spend money on it.

Also, i'm not saying this is the case, but the increase in content could also be seen as a way to generate as many gem sales as possible before they pull the plug....

It's hard to decipher exactly what the plan is, which is why it would be nice to see some sort of official announcement.

    Good question, possible scenarios:
    - shut down the game. I don't want that but a company will always act as a company.
    - open source this game and let community to deal with. highly unlikely to happen.
    - move to html5/webgl/canvas ( i actually don't understand why they did not took this path yet, something is not right seems )

All depends on game profit and company politics. And so far, there seems to don't be any signs that BB want to chose 3 option, which is sad.

my guess is nothing, just too much investment for a little reward, if BB people (like novog) are leaving I think that's a sign the end is near......

How many BB's have come and gone over the years? They come for a year or two then I assume rotate off to the next project.
