Anno Online webgame shut down last year. WoW

So I noticed that the Anno Online browser game (similar to settlers online) got shut down.

I'm wondering how long will it take before Settlers online gets shut down and whats going to happen when Flash gets discontinued next year.

Which leaves to wonder, if I should bother wasting my time with the new Easter event when all of this is just going down the drain when servers shut down. all the years of stuff ive spent gems on and built up. I have a lot of gem buildings. got all the gem pits. etc.

Anno stopped receiving updates in 2016. I wouldn't read too much into it. It's perhaps a sign of the state of the industry, but Settlers is obviously more sustainable. Concerns about Flash seem more relevant to me. I've gotten the sense that they'll keep TSO around if it can be justified, as long as they don't have to reinvent the wheel (no TSO 2, no HTML5), assuming there is a suitable alternative.

I've played a lot of online games that depend on having a server. And server gone = game over. All stuff gone.

You are right. I've enjoyed Dungeon Runners, paid for it monthly, and suddenly they shutdown the server with 1 month notice and nothing else after that.

All of this is very true.

Is there another alternative to flash than HTML 5?

It's a scary feeling, but this Easter event is how Anno's end started. Slower and slower responses, month long bugs before fixes, forums non responsive. That went on for a while and then the 'no more development' post. But they did give a year or two to play around with what you have before shutting down. I didn't stick around as was more into the end game anyway there than here.

We've handled pretty much everything with this Easter Events hiccups. The login issues are something that only affect some people, but others are totally fine. Hard to pin point what might be causing that when it's only some people. Also we have a team trying to recreate those issues as well, so that we can further investigate it.

The second quest not coming up was handled in a pretty timely manner considering when it happened. Now the third one, is one that is being looked into on what will be best to do with it and I will keep everyone updated when I find out more information.

I'm wondering if the login wait time problem is somehow tied to whatever solution was implemented to solve the file loading error that was happening a few months back. Remember that one?

It's just a hunch mind you, but around the same time this error disappeared, the login screen began sitting and sitting and sitting, getting progressively worse until we've gotten to horribly excessive wait times or not being able to login at all. This is definitely not a problem exclusive to the Easter event, it's just hit critical mass with the Easter event. Excessive login waiting time has been going on for a very long while.
