Unhappy Settlers App: what about linux players?

Today I tried to log as usual but it requested me to install the app ("The Settlers Online Installer.exe").

That sounds to be a great substitute for flash, but it doesn't seem to be compatible with Linux operating systems.
I wish I could have been able to say 'bye' to my amazing guild players...
From a communication perspective (unless I missed a message), it would have been nicer to inform the player about the compatibility of the app and the date of enforcement.

So I guess this is a farewell message.

It was discussed in the forums and news flashes but I never saw anything official in-game.

It looks like for now - we have to run virtual box + download a 90 day eval copy of Windows 10 I hope this will change. It works, but having to run another OS to play a game is not a good thing.

    Hey there,

Has anyone tried installing the client under Wine?

    Cheers,

    Hi,
    Many thanks for the replies.
I fear the virtualization or wine will be slow but I will give a try.

They have said that Linux and MacOS users will have to wait for the Unity version(test version is out). Windows version is available from the start, because its based on Adobe Air.
