It's hard to call something a game when it feels like a chore. It takes too long just to accomplish what little I do, so I have given up actually playing for now. Occasionally I try chat, but then there are refreshes, type lags, and absolutely no idea if anyone is even on. I try to do GQ to help the few guildies who are able/willing to play as-is. The usual game for me now is: I login, wait a few minutes to get through the brown bar, splash screen and resized splash screen, then try to click through the first pop-up green check bar. Half of the time that causes a refresh. Then the gem progress click, and if the first pop-up didn't cause a refresh, this one will. Then it takes ~5 mins minimum to fully load my island, for a bit the only parts that load are the roads and trees. Then I open the quest log... this is where almost every click causes a mini freeze. 6-10 mins to get through that much, and most of the island is usually (but not always) loaded. Every click on an explorer or geo causes a little lag so I stopped sending them. Collectibles cause freezes so I stopped collecting. Trying to buff production buildings cause both freeze and lag, so all my production is sleeping. Loading generals and getting the attack waves right is a nightmare and leads to unnecessary loss of expensive to replace troops so I don't do any adventures. Most of the time I can get books queued in the RPH and collect/initiate the bookbinder. What I can manage in a half-hour to full hour in-game is get through initial screens, quest log and DQ/GQ that do not require either production, adventures or high-end resources. And yes, I HAVE bought gems in the past, but not any more until the game is at least as functional as it was on the client.

    I really am glad the game works for you, and apparently functions excellently, and I do appreciate the tips, but please consider that most of us who care enough to be posting are NOT having much "happy settling" going on.
    lots of people have said the game has improved - all you need to do is go look at the thread after the first update - people were saying sending explorers and geos were a lot less painful.

    I never said the game functions 'excellently'. It isn't unplayable like it was at the start though.

    When the Unity version first came out, it was roughly two minutes per specialist sent out. It was difficult to do anything. After the update, along with losing several more guildies who could no longer log in (and still can't), the specialists were better for a while, but I could no longer stay logged in for very long before getting booted and not being able to get in. That is still normal for me, although getting logged in is getting more and more difficult. I haven't been able to get into the game since the day before yesterday. For me, it's getting worse. I don't know what to do, but at this point, I may as well take a break from the game, as I can't get into the game. If I can, I may just shut down everything and come back in October to try again. And just as a point of reference, I too have been a paying customer for quite a while but at this point, I can't justify buying gems. When one spends real money, one expects a certain level of quality, which is sadly lacking at this point in the evolution of the game. For you, the game may not be unplayable. For me, it pretty much is.

    Still cannot login here on Unity since Aug 4th Maintenance.
    Installed Tampermonkey app and managed to login client version though

    I left the game open for hours today because I forgot about it and when I came back things were still fine. The only problem I have had is with the game losing my actions right before a zone refresh and I can work around that and the mail after they 'fixed' it would overwrite existing mail so I had to refresh - it appears if I just select the mail I want, i.e. trades, etc - even that works fine. I am usually on 2-3 times during the day and other than one day a couple of days ago I have no problems logging in. Well I have the problem with generals switching during adventures that I think everyone has but that is just a timing issue and you need to send when your generals have all landed or when they are building and won't finish before you are done working on a general. It is the generals garrisons finalizing that causes the game to switch to that one I believe.

    If the game works for me and not for you, then I would say it isn't the game itself but the copy you have on your PC has been corrupted and that might be fixed when they do the game update in 2 days.

    I have tried 3 browsers and chrome is actually the worst for me for lag. Firefox and Vivaldi both load pretty fast and in game actions although not as fast as last year are far better than it was when unity hit live. I find if I have a lot of other things open, i.e. games or youtube or tabs, settlers sometimes has problems.

    Hammer Man and No Connection to the Server continues...

    Have tried Vivaldi also with no difference in addition to all the other mainstream browsers.

    UPDATE: For Pteris the August 4, 2021 introduced 'Hammer Man' / 'No Connection to the Server' bug was resolved 28 days later with the September 1, 2021 maintenance.

    You know ... Quit leading everyone on and just shut down the game altogether. Probably 90% of the base is gone for good by now. It's a lost cause. I'm sure the developers can be move to other newer games.

    so disappointed with the decision to go ahead with this event, regardless of what seems to be player feedback to the contrary. does this mean with the fixes my generals will no longer go wandering off and changing the number of troops they take with them, or do the expected fixes mean that the player online lights will be working? I think very difficult to participate in any event when we have no idea who is even trying to play. Please,workable content before you take a bow for starting this event

    Have you been reading through the feedback at all, Koshko? There are very obviously a large number of us who still want this game and want to play. I appreciate that the devs are still working on it, although there are a lot of problems that need addressed. Nobody is required to stay if they are truly unhappy here. It's a simple matter of closing the browser window and not coming back. For those of us who really want this game, that is not necessarily an option; we will continue to return, and we will continue to encourage the devs to fix the issues. For those who don't care or who are seriously hating this game now, there's no reason to stay and make the rest of us miserable.

    The idea that "we can't go back because of Mac users" is inane and typically socialistic non-think! Instead of Mac users having problems EVERYONE has problems!
    BB could use the same approach as TamperMonkey and give users the choice! That would at least allow a large portion of the base to play!

    This current update seems to have ignored ALL of the real issues except epic work yards. I don't know the ratio of players who have enough epic work yards to the number of players who are affected by switching generals, but my guess is 10:100. Fix the combat system so we can adventure! Then worry over production!

    And not only the combat system, but the log in and connectivity issues.
