This is supposed to cover explorers sent out during the buff but coming back after and it does not always. I suspect the game is resetting the explorers in some cases if the person logged in and out again after the buff expired but before the explorers came back.

This was reported a year ago and I can confirm it's still broken. Explorers sent with the Easter Egg Tree buff are losing the buff and bonus eggs when they return. My guild leader ShuttlePilot told us that the buff is lost on explorers due to server maintenance, which happened yesterday, but others are saying that the buff is even lost simply due to logging out of the game before the explorers return. Either way, it's failing to do what it was advertised as doing, explorers sent with the buff are not returning with the buff.

The Egg Tree Buff is not working properly. I did send in a support ticket. It states:

Note: the Egg Hunt buff must be applied before you send out your Explorers. However, if Explorers are out on a search when the buff expires, their event resources upon returning will still be affected by the Egg Hunt bonus.

All explorers are coming back now from prolong searches without the extra bonus. And yes I did send them before the buff expired

I can confirm now that simply logging out causes any explorers sent with the Easter Egg Tree buff to lose the buff after the buff and event has ended. This must be why it is lost on days there is maintenance too since that results in a forced logout.

Further, logging out or reloading will also cause any explorers sent during the end of the event to not return with event items.

So, until it's fixed don't log out and hope that your game does not crash, freeze or go down for server maintenance.

This may be related to how the Starfall shard crates disappear when logging out. Data is being lost on logout and refresh.

After losing 801 eggs in my storage simply due to reloading the game after it froze, I went ahead and reported all these data losses of explorer buffs, explorer event resources and quest rewards like shard crates through Ubi Soft support.

This is still confirmed bugged as of the 2024 Football event. Any logout, reload, crash or loss of connection from the game will cause the loss of the Easter Egg buff and event resources on any explorers returning after the buff or event expires.

The Easter Egg tree buff is still broken this Halloween. Explorers sent with the buff did not return with the buff after getting disconnected from Settlers Online for a "general error," which there are more occurrences of than ever.
